Paradise Complete - Just an Umbra of Symmetry
Paradise Complete Paints a beautful picture of sonic landscapes that lead to anywhere you can imagine. These synthesizers are sound-designed well, and the sliced-up parts sound incredibly cool when mixed with the various assorted drones, glitches, and chops. I love the nuggets of noise as well, they add a lot of flavor to the tracks without leading too heavily into it. My favorite song: and now I don't know if I failed her or not, what with my gendered snoring. The ending of this song is textural heaven, offering chops with a bright, chunky-sounding synthesizer.

With this album, Paradise Complete explores the branching lives latent within a fixed set of material. These tracks tell their stories in distinct but mutually intelligible tongues with, to, and against one another. Half of this album was asynchronously and freely improvised using found and synthetic material. The other half was improvised live at Experimental Sound Studios using exclusively the materials of the asynchronous improvisations.
Bryn Davis is a composer and improviser based in St. Paul, Minnesota whose works are oriented around serendipity, fluid possibilities, and (not infrequently) absurdity. Bryn's music has won a variety of awards and honors including an ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award, loadbang's commission competition, and multiple selections in Score Follower's Follow My Score competitions. In addition to upcoming releases on Amalgam and Empty Stage Records, they have released music on Bánh Mì Verlag, Traced Objects, Parlour Tapes+, Ham Bag Records, and Summit Records and have collaborated on new works with performers including including loadbang, Vertixe Sonora, Ensemble SurPlus, and Proxima Centauri. She also improvises in the collage duo Paradise Complete, the collage quartet The World's Greatest Drum Programmer, and the YouTube quintet NASDAQUIRI. Bryn participated in the 2015 Sommerakademie at Akademie Schloss Solitude and 2017 Festival Mixtur and holds an M.M. in Music Composition from DePaul as well as a B.M. in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Nick Meryhew is an experimental musician, arts educator, improviser, and passionate home cook. Their work explores the elasticity of time and the absurdity of the mundane through a sculptural approach to found sound. Their work has been presented at Tritriangle, No Nation, MCA Chicago, the Neo-Futurists, Babycastles (NYC), Mirrorlab (Minneapolis), Experimental Sound Studio, and Roman Susan, among others. They currently perform solo and with Tallulah Bankheist, Heavy Tiny, Paradise Complete, and as a sound designer with Runaway Labs Theater. They run a silly net label called Ham Bag Records.
